Elvis Presley "King of Rock and Roll" died August 16, 1977
While Elvis was called "the king", he was certainly great in his prime. He had a great voice and persona and was one of the first white guys to bring black style music to the masses. We can thank Sun Records owner, Sam Phillips, for seeing the potential in Elvis. Too bad Elvis destroyed himself with drugs at such a young age. He was only 42 when he died
