While on the surface I am thrilled that dictators like Mubarak and (hopefully) Gaddafi are gone, I am worried about who will be in charge going down the road.
Remember Iran ? After the Shah was overthrown, a bunch of right wing Muslim religious nutjobs hijacked that country. And they are still in charge and always threatening to start wars with Israel or other countries in the area. They are a menace to world security and are dying to get nukes.
What's to prevent the same thing from happening in Egypt, Libya, Yemen, etc ?
They are all run by horribly corrupt and inept leaders who don't give a damn about their own people. It's estimated that Mubarak is worth between 40 - 70 BILLION dollars while the average per capita income in Egypt is only $2,758, quite a disparity.
It's really sad that there are no Democratic Arab countries anywhere. Turkey has real democracy, but Turks are not Arabs (but they are mostly Muslim).
I sure hope that these countries get real freedom and democracy, but am fearful that even crazier and more brutal regimes will end up in power.
