Albert Pujols signs 10 year 254 million deal with California Angels
So, Albert Pujols just signed a 10 year ~$254 million deal with the California Angels.
No doubt he is one of the best players in MLB right now.
But it is sad he abandoned the Cardinals and St. Louis fans that were loyal to him for 11 years.
I guess he couldn't squeak by on the $16 million annually they were paying him ?
Just look at the basic math of this deal. 254 million over 10 years is over $25 MILLION per year.
The baseball season is 166 games. That comes to over $150,000 PER GAME or about $50,000 per at bat!
And no one plays every game. I know there is spring training, off season training, etc, but that is crazy.
It is really getting disgusting how much professional athletes are being paid just to play sports while the rest of us are losing jobs, houses, etc.
I like watching sports a lot, but these ever increasing salaries are unreal.
In the end, it is just entertainment with no real value to society.
And look at the NBA strike. Spoiled brat/thug Millionaires arguing with billionaires about revenue sharing etc. while the real people who also make it happen (people who work at the stadiums, work in the concessions, etc) go broke.
I am no socialist, but I do wonder where all this is going. The middle class in the US is receding rapidly, hurtling towards third world economics where there are only super rich and very poor peoples.
And don't believe all the political rhetoric coming from Democrats and Republicans, they both play for the same team in the end (greed and corruption).
Get out there and VOTE. I say vote all independents, its time the Democrats and Republicans take a vacation for a while and let someone else screw things up for a while...
