50 Men Arrested In Prostitution Sting In Midtown Atlanta
Atlanta police said they arrested 50 male prostitutes as part of a six-day prostitution and narcotics sting in midtown called Operation Summer Heat.
Many of the arrests were made in the Peachtree/Cypress Street area and Ponce de Leon corridors.
Channel 2 Action News cameras were rolling as officers from the Police Department’s undercover Vice and APEX units teamed up for the operation.
“We’ve received many complaints about hustling and prostitution in these corridors,” Atlanta Police Chief George Turner said. In addition to the 50 male prostitutes, police said they also arrested 11 female prostitutes, eight johns, five people on marijuana-related charges and five people on cocaine charges.
“We hope these arrests send a signal to the community that the APD is listening, and to lawbreakers that we are not going to tolerate this conduct,” Turner said.
Officers from Zone 5 assisted with making the arrests. Department leaders say the effort highlights proactive policing.
“This operation was a major success,” Vice Commander Lt. Scott Kreher said.
Adult-US Note: I wonder if most of the Johns in that area realize the 'girls' are really guys. Why don't they just hire a safe escort from my site: http://adult-atlanta.com/sexy/atlanta/escorts.html
And even more stupid is that prostitution is still illegal in the US. In most other countries it is LEGAL or at least decriminalized. Our law enforcement resources could be used so much more efficiently chasing REAL criminals.
